The Holy Items of Cheon Il Guk and Our Eternal Life with True Parents – God’s Touch Comes Through Parents

What is it that sacraments do? Sacraments bestow grace, including the grace of forgiveness, of incorporation into the body of Christ, of holy matrimony. They bestow power, the power to purify and separate from Satan, receive the lineal graft of the original love of God and live as one family under God eternally.

Father and Mother Moon, our True Parents, established the foundation to convey the grace of the Holy Items with their marriage and the birth of their first child, both in 1960, and their entry into the Cheon Jeong Peace Palace 46 years later.

“God’s grace, the power of life, comes from your Father and Mother, through the path of love.”

Over the decades, the power of True Parents’ sacraments expanded from the individual to the world. Today, with these Holy Items, Father and Mother Moon are taking this power to the next step—to Heaven, the spiritual realms, the cosmos.

We play a part in this—our part is to believe by faith and to put into practice by love. True Mother bestowed the Holy Items as objects of faith. In her initiating prayer, she reported, “Through this grace, the blessed families can establish the standard of faith that is 90 degrees straight and without shadow, the standard of true blessed families…”

Authentic faith in these Holy Items is direct with God. It touches Father Moon in Heaven. This faith does not cast a shadow. In Unification terminology, it is perfectly vertical. By it we participate in the eternal and absolute love of the bride for the bridegroom. Mother Moon’s love for her departed husband, Father Moon, is embodied in these elements.

“The Holy Items are the sacramental embodiment of the love of the bride and bridegroom. Sacramental embodiment means that, on the basis of our faith, God’s grace is alive in them.”

God’s touch comes through our parents, our father and mother. This is why, no matter who they are, we honor our father and mother. These Holy Items are our parents’ physical touchWe can touch them, sense them, assimilate them. They are part of our life, our earthly body.

Because she is with us on earth, we receive them through Mother Moon. Mother Moon is, in a sense, the physical embodiment, the sacramental embodiment, of her husband, Father Moon. The Holy Items are her physical embodiment. They are the sacramental embodiment of the love of the bride and bridegroom. Sacramental embodiment means that, on the basis of our faith, God’s grace is alive in them.
