A tree changes lineage through engrafting. Engrafting works for people through man-woman and mother-son love. This happens in the Holy Wine Ceremony. Jesus prefigured it in his encounter with the woman at the well.

Jesus answered, “The living water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water.” He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”

Here is what was going on. Jesus knew the woman had had five men, and that she was cohabiting with a sixth. By calling him her husband, Jesus was forgiving her. The woman’s first condition was to accept Jesus’ radical forgiveness, that is, to believe in him as her Savior. Second was to bring her angelic man to stand as her husband. Third was to receive the water of life from Jesus, as his bride, and give it to her husband, as his mother.

The woman’s first condition was to accept Jesus’ radical forgiveness.

The woman doubted, telling Jesus “I have no husband.” Why? It was because, providentially, there was a piece missing. There is no birth without a father and mother, and there was no True Mother.

“I conduct the [Holy Wine] Ceremony through Mother.”

[In the ceremony] “the woman is in the position of mother. Her position is the same as that of True Mother.”

“Each woman of the world who has gone to the spirit world should attend me as her elder brother, husband and father, centered on True Mother.”

In the Fall, Eve received angel’s seed and shared it with Adam. In the restoration, the wife, in Eve’s position, receives the holy wine, which represents God’s seed, and shares it with her husband, who is in the angel’s position. As Eve gave birth to Adam as her evil son, the wife sacramentally gives birth to her husband as a good son. They fulfill mother-son cooperation.

I conduct the Holy Wine Ceremony through Mother.

So the wife receives Holy Wine, drinks half the cup, and gives it to her husband, who drinks the other half. As the Lord engrafted to her, she engrafts to him, and “he can rise to an equal footing with the woman.”

Thus we remove the original sin and receive God’s seed through True Parents, the unfallen Adam and Eve.

The second step is a public ceremony, a formal wedding.
